The medical industry should be more transparent. I was called to book an apt for my MSI checkup as I have an eye condition I need to see my eye doctor once per year. MSI covers that for me. I come to my apt assuming I won't have to pay for anything because I was called for an MSI check up. I check in and give my health card. And was asked if I have private health insurance. I said no. You would think that would be a flag right there to say something is going to cost me money. As I do not work in an eye clinic I do not know what MSI covers. The lady says I need to go into the imaging room. Thinking this is all for MSI, I don't ask any questions and just do what I'm asked to do.... At the end of the visit I am informed I need to pay $60 for imaging....now $60 may not seem like a lot for some. But it's a lot for me. I felt put on the spot. And obligated to pay my bill. And it left me feeling used. Had I known this I would have waited until my private insurance is active in 6 months time. There was a lady that said she would put a note on my file to let me know in advance of any charges I might have... But to me, it should be standard to be more transparent.

Miller Optometry in Dartmouth Crossing is the absolute best place for eye exams and glasses. I haven't been to an optometrist in almost 10 years (5 years for my son) and they were saints working with us. They were patient, kind, understanding and very informational. We spent two hours with them and not once did we feel rushed or forced anything. Their prices on exams and glasses are also decent, not to mention they have online booking so if you're anxious like me you don't have to call. So excited to have my new glasses in the new year!

Excellent service. We had a situation where glasses came from a store outside of HRM, frames got broke and our regular shop couriered us the replacement frames. We went to Miller thinking we would be last priority. Not at all. We were greeted by 3 friendly staff. They quickly assured us they could help. They installed the lenses in our new frames, made adjustments necessary and there was no charge. We were there about 10 minutes tops. The store has only been here a year or so they said. Lots of space, tons of frame selection and they said it’s quick to get an eye exam scheduled - few days. If you’re looking for an optometry store you should try Miller in Dartmouth Crossing! They went above and beyond when explaining some complicated things with my eyes that I thought I understood. They have also a great variety of frames and glasses. They have high quality top end brands but also a in store brand that’s very affordable. With insurance they are very affordable and I highly recommend everyone to at least get the exam done! I was having a bad day. Broke my glasses and needed to have them fixed. I'm fairly new to wearing glasses so I called Miller to find out what to do. I went in to have them look at my glasses (which couldn't be fixed) and got an eye exam. I had a fantastic time while I was there. I've never had such wonderful customer service (which included cutting open my purse when the zipper jammed too badly to be opened). We laughed the whole time and I ordered a new pair of glasses, though I expressed some concerns about living without glasses for the interim. The next day, they texted me (unprompted by me) to tell me they found frames that my old lenses fit into, and let me borrow the frames until my new glasses arrive. When I showed up to pick up the borrowed frames with my old lenses in them, they greeted me by name, and complimented my replacement purse. Every single staff member I interacted with was a wonderful person and the price of my new progressives was reasonable. I cannot recommend Miller enough.

A few days ago, I awoke with my eye swollen and stuck shut. I went to hospital and was given oral antibiotics. Well, to say the least, they made me very ill. I called my eye clinic and was not able to be seen until June. I was advised to call Miller Optometry and I am so very glad I did. From the very first conversation on the phone, I knew I had called the right place. Even though I wasn't a patient, they fit me in right away. I walked into the big, bright, comfortable clinic and I could feel the "happy". It felt as though I had been going there forever. The staff and Dr. McGinty are amazing! Presenting with a variety of eye concerns (RK surgery, and cataracts) it has been a challenge to find a clinic that took the time to really work with us and our needs. But I can say, after a week with our new progressive lenses, and our work lenses, he got it right! Her gentle and calm demeanor made this experience, one I have to admit I was dreading, a truly pleasant time. The entire office is full of kindness and humour, and honesty. When you wear these everyday, you need a group to help you with the process. This practice, and the people within, are worth the 2 hour drive!

This is my first pair of glasses, so I was a bit unsure of what to get, but once I spoke with Alison and we started going through selections that would be suit me, I was at total ease. We had a couple laughs, and a short time after we did the measurements for my first pair of glasses. I had gone to other places to get quotes and was barely given any options. Alison was honest and gave me only what I required and wasn’t interested in just getting as much out of me as she could. Extremely impressed and would HIGHLY recommend everyone to go see any of the staff, but Alison was a rock star, so go see her!!! Thank you to all the staff at Miller Optometry.

The staff at miller’s optometry are very knowledgeable and helpful . It wouldn’t have been easy for me to pick out the right frames to suit me but all the staff jumped in and they came up with the right ones for me .
