New Spaces remodeled my kitchen and mudroom back in 2012, and I loved the results. What truly sets them apart, though, is what happened years later. In 2024, I experienced a plumbing leak that caused water damage to my kitchen ceiling and floor, all during an incredibly difficult time for my family. I reached out to New Spaces hoping for a referral or some guidance, and I was honestly blown away by the response. Jennifer McClellan immediately stepped in, arranged for my ceiling repair, and personally helped me select new flooring. She even advised on color choices to modernize the kitchen while ensuring it flowed with the rest of my home. I included a picture with the new floor that I love! The end result was fantastic, but what meant the most was the unexpected care and support so many years after my original renovation. That level of customer service is rare. I am deeply grateful and would highly recommend New Spaces to anyone considering a home renovation.

What customers say

This is an AI-generated summary of the company's reviews

New Spaces collects consistently positive ratings, with the majority of Google Maps reviews earning 5 stars and NPS scores frequently reaching 10 out of 10. Customers repeatedly mention that designers listen to their ideas and translate them into functional layouts, often presenting three different design options at various price points. The design phase emerges as a central strength, with consultants asking questions about lifestyle and space usage before presenting visual renderings. On the execution side, lead carpenters such as Ross and Ed receive specific recognition for explaining work as it happens and adapting when unexpected issues arise. Communication appears as a recurring concern, however—several respondents note that schedule updates were missed or that timelines slipped without advance notification, and a few mention difficulty obtaining itemized cost breakdowns or follow-up contact after initial consultations.

Key Trends

  • References to designers listening to clients and understanding their vision appeared in approximately 45% of customer comments throughout the data, with this theme becoming notably more concentrated in responses from 2021-2025 compared to earlier years when general quality mentions dominated.
  • Communication-related concerns were noted in roughly 15% of recent feedback, with specific mentions of delays in follow-up or missed updates appearing in several 2024-2025 reviews after being nearly absent in 2014-2020 responses.
  • Budget management discussions have evolved over time—earlier reviews (2013-2018) frequently mentioned staying within budget as completed outcomes, while more recent entries (2022-2024) include instances where projects exceeded initial estimates or required clients to scale back, representing a shift in how pricing expectations are documented.

Where New Spaces excels

  • Designers present three different design options at various price points, allowing clients to select elements from each and combine them into a final plan.
  • Lead carpenters explain every step that happens during the process and suggest changes when unexpected problems arise, such as finding hidden plumbing.
  • Clients receive weekly email schedules detailing exactly what work will be performed each week, with advance notice before appliances need to be removed.
  • Consultations operate on a "no pressure" basis where representatives answer questions about typical price ranges and project duration without pushing sales.
  • The team visits clients' homes for unrelated issues even years after the original remodel and helps arrange repairs beyond the project scope.

Where New Spaces can improve

  • One customer paid for design services but received proposals tens of thousands over budget, with incomplete cost itemization missing $80,000, and received no response to multiple contact attempts for explanation or contract review (2024).
  • A 2023 NPS 0 detractor reported the build experience was "the very worst" out of seven major remodeling projects, with the team months behind schedule and needing to redo every part of the project.
  • Communication breakdowns occurred multiple times during some projects, leading to frustration and a rating reduction from what would have been 5 stars to 3.5-4 stars (2022).
  • One recent consultation in 2025 resulted in lost notes, repeated promises of follow-up that were not honored, and an estimate that did not accurately reflect the client's wants or needs.

Bjorn was very informative and supportive of our project. We are in the very early stages of determining scope and timeline. From here I am hoping we can look at meaningful alternatives and come up with a good plan.
